Since 1993, John has advised private business owners in relation to acquisition and divestment strategies, merger opportunities, business improvement strategies, succession planning and estate planning.  He has been the primary adviser on the sale of businesses valued between $2.5 million and $20 million.  John has also advised a number of Australia’s wealthiest individuals and families regarding their personal wealth management, retirement planning and estate planning.

Prior to establishing Black Pearl Private Clients in 2010, John advised clients of Macquarie Bank Limited for 11 years, where he held senior positions with Macquarie Private Bank and Macquarie Business Investment Services.  For six years, John was also employed in the Tax Division of an international Chartered Accounting practice, where he provided corporate and international tax advice to domestic and international companies on acquisitions and divestments, corporate restructures and personal tax planning.

In addition to 18 years of hands on, practical experience, John’s formal qualifications include:
